How to Display Your Magnets Other Than On Your Fridge

When you see a magnet, most people will immediately think of putting magnets on their fridge. That may be the only place that magnets belong. Or, on a whiteboard. I’ve got some alternative ideas for you so you can show off those magnets without cluttering up your fridge. If you have stainless steel appliances, and magnets don't stick, then you’ll love these options.

Framed Display

If you’re out and about at your local thrift store or even craft store, be on the lookout for a cute frame. You can go vintage, rustic, or whatever style suits your taste. Take the frame and use it as is, or spray paint it to your color scheme.

Then, find some sheet metal at your local hardware store or find a flat baking pan. I suggest getting sheet metal from the hardware store because they may be able to cut it to your frame size. A baking sheet may not be the right size, and may also have edges that don’t fit well with your frame. Not a fan of the gray metal color? Spray paint your sheet to your own color scheme.

Now you’re ready to hang on the wall to show off those cool magnets! Think of themes you can put together. Travel, animals, places, or your favorite colors. The sky’s the limit! As an idea, you could get smaller framed metal so you can organize your magnet collection to different categories.

Metal Letter Display

Get really creative by going to Hobby Lobby and getting some metal letters that you can hang on your wall. These would be super creative ways to display your magnets and fit your style. Pick out a word or just use your initials and display your magnet collection for all to see. Talk about a great conversation starter!

Plate Display

Here is something I did for craft shows this year, and you can incorporate the idea if you have shelf space. I found some metal (they also have galvanized) plates at Hobby Lobby (on sale!) so with a plate easel, you can easily display your magnet collection on your shelf.

Lamp Display

Now, if you don't have a large magnet collection, but do have a few unique ones you’d like to show off, check all the lamps in your living room or anywhere you want your magnet to “shine”. Many lamps have a metal base or stand that you can add your magnet to. This not only gives character to the lamp, but also shows off your special magnet.

Collecting special and unique magnets is a great hobby. They are small, affordable, and now that you have an awesome display, easy to show of to guests. But, think about this. Why not also make a plan to collect magnets that you can give out as gifts to friends and family? Magnets can speak to their interests and lives. When shopping for magnets, think about what the person likes, their hobbies, or even their favorite colors. Do they travel? Love animals or plants? A reader? Love music? Etc…. This small object can mean the world when it fits their lifestyle. It can mean the perfect little gift that you can give to show how much you care.
